RESPECTED, TRUSTWORTHY, PERSONAL

Since 2004, founders Rupert Briggs and Richard Digance have brought their own personal perspective to estate agency services in the Epsom, Stoneleigh, Tadworth and Banstead region.

Our company name encompasses the ethos we were launched to uphold – we make buying and selling, renting and letting our personal responsibility, not a job, not a career step, or an inconvenience, but the personal responsibility of our company, of the branch closest to you, the team within, and the consultant we choose as best suited to work directly with you.

WHO ARE WE?

The Personal Agent is a five-branch independent estate agency dedicated to local homeowners and investors, offering sales, lettings and property management services across the south-west London and north-east Surrey region. For nearly 20 years our highly trained friendly team have built a reputation for quality of service and we’d love the opportunity to prove this to you.

WHAT DO WE DO?

We offer exceptional local knowledge, accurate valuations and a different approach to estate agency than you may be used to. All of our photographs are professionally taken, and every vendor has the option of a free video walk-through (to enhance saleability). Then there are our dedicated sales progression staff to ensure that offers follow through to completions, and the support we give all parties throughout the time you are with us.

WHEN CAN WE HELP?

Anytime you need us. If you want to buy or sell, let or rent your property. If you wish to unburden yourself from your duties as a landlord by passing them to our management team. If you want to know what your home is worth to see if you can afford to move. If you’re looking for an investment with the very best returns, a new property off-plan or a home with character, a mortgage or just a chat about moving. We are here to help whatever your property needs.

WHERE DO WE COVER?

Our branches are located in Epsom, Stoneleigh, Tadworth and Banstead, and our traditional ‘region’ stretches out a few miles in all directions from them. As our staff all come from or live in the region we know these areas well so it’s no surprise that we’ve been helping vendors to sell, landlords to let, tenants and buyers to find their new homes, developers to showcase their workmanship, and investors to seal deal after deal for nearly two decades.

WHY WE DO
WHAT WE DO

In a word, passion. We launched The Personal Agent in 2004 to be a different kind of estate agency. We strove to care about our clients, to know our stock inside and out, and to understand the needs of our region, and we do. We were driven to offer the highest quality service as standard, and this has been an unwavering commitment from day one. And we took personal responsibility for servicing our client’s property needs, so we treat every home, investment and search with the individuality it deserves, the personal touch.

OUR HISTORY

In March 2004 founders, Rupert Briggs and Richard Digance, after having worked for local estate agents for some time decided that it was time to go it alone. They wanted to create an agency that was more in line with their view of what an estate agency should be like, one that cared more, listened more, did more for its community.

MARCH 2004

LAUNCH DATE

Founders, Rupert Briggs and Richard Digance, after having worked for local estate agents for some time decided that it was time to go it alone. They wanted to create an agency that was more in line with their view of what an estate agency should be like, one that cared more, listened more, did more for its community.

APRIL 2004

WOULD YOU LIKE FRIES WITH THAT?

Our first office was above McDonalds in serviced offices. There was no direct entrance – you had to buzz to get in and we would have to then run to the door to open it!

We launched with no properties. And looked to drum up business with local press advertising and flyer posting – we walked the streets for months to get our name out there and find properties to sell.

JUNE 2004

OUR FIRST SALE

Our first property, in Providence Place in Epsom, came to us in May through someone we knew. Trying to sell it with no buyers was a challenge. But properties bring buyers and after four weeks we did sell it – one of our proudest moments was seeing our first ever ‘sold’ board appear on the streets of Epsom.

And so it began, and we got momentum. More properties came on, a lot of properties, and we sold them.

2005

TRIUMPH IN THE FACE OF ADVERSITY

After nearly a year of trading, we turned up to work to find the building had been repossessed. We were given an hour to pack up our three desks, computers and phones into a van. Luckily a friend came to the rescue and put us in an office that needed refurbishment on the second floor of the High Street above the Leeds & Holbeck Building Society.

There was no heating, no phones, and a lot of stairs to get up. We had to work off our mobile phones for 10 weeks while BT installed lines. But people were starting to hear about us because of our outstanding service.

2007

A PERMANENT HOME AT LAST

And then came our first high street location. It was a big decision, but a shopfront was essential for us to move forward. Unfortunately, we ended competing with another agency for our Epsom office, but luckily the landlord chose us.

The premises were refurbished and we’ve never looked back. Over the years, we have expanded into different parts of the building.

2008

STONELEIGH BRANCH

Stoneleigh was an obvious choice for our second office as we had been selling plenty of property in that area for years by this point.

2010

EWELL BRANCH

Ewell came next and the doors opened in 2010. The business was growing organically from one neighbouring area to another, simply because of the demand we’d seen for an even more local team to be there for the convenience of our vendors and buyers.

2013

LETTINGS BRANCH OPENS

Having dabbled in lettings for years through a franchise model we decided to bring this function in-house and launched our own brand of lettings in 2013 from our Epsom branch. The demand has been such that it has gone from strength to strength, and our exceptional lettings and management team do us proud.

2016

BANSTEAD BRANCH

January 2016 saw the opening of our Banstead Branch

2022

CONTINUED EXPANSION

We’ve continued to grow our team across all branches welcoming our most recent additions in July 2022.
